Lost Years - Nuclear

It's classics week here at Synthwave Reviews, and I'm kicking things off with a wonderful piece of outrun history, Lost Years' debut EP Nuclear.



It's 2018 and outrun is dying, a victim of the emerging clash between Neon Miami 1985 and Satanic Skrillex. But in the ancient days of 2012, outrun was rad! I mean, what a great formula: dance music inspired by racing arcade games, aerobics videos, and 30-year-old visions of the future. And no release quite captures that vibe as well as Nuclear.

Sure, it sounds a little primitive today, but the simplicity and space in these compositions is a nice contrast to the overly busy productions we see today. If you want to turn back time to a simpler age, then Nuclear may be just what the doctor ordered.
